Aries Marine Engineering Services has successfully completed the Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT) inspection of the Molten Salt Tank at Redstone Project in South Africa. This is a significant achievement that demonstrates the company's commitment to providing top-notch inspection services that meet industry standards and client expectations.
The Molten Salt Tank at Redstone Project is a solar power tower with molten salt energy storage, located in Postma burg, near Kimberley, in the Northern Cape Region of South Africa. The tank comprises Stainless Steel (A240 Type 347H) and Carbon Steel (SA516 Gr 70N), which are materials that require a high level of inspection accuracy and precision to ensure their quality and longevity.
To validate the blocks and ensure quality control, the inspection utilized Shear wave, DMA & DLA Probes, and adhered to the approved procedure API-650. The use of these probes and procedures helped to guarantee accurate and reliable results. Additionally, the company conducted piping inspection for both CS and SS materials, ranging from 2” to 40” in diameter, conforming to ASME B31.3/ASME B31.1 standards, and used various validation blocks to ensure result accuracy and precision.
To manage the project effectively, Aries Marine Engineering Services carried out site coordination, prepared a scan plan, and held daily meetings with Sepco & Acwa power. These measures ensured that the project met the required standards and that all parties involved were on the same page throughout the process.
